CHURCH MUSIC St Augustine’s has a long standing musical tradition. We are fortunate to have a fine organ and we have a choir for Sunday worship. Regular musical concerts take place in the church featuring a wide range of musical styles. Many famous artists have appeared here. Christopher Town is the Director of Music and he has a policy of introducing new, modern pieces into our worship while retaining the best of traditional church music.
The organist is Brian Newman who, when not at the organ console
performs as a freelance horn player and teaches brass, piano and keyboard
locally including Babington House School, Chislehurst. He was principal horn
with the Royal Shakespeare Company Wind Band in London for 25 years.
Two very fine musical settings for the Sunday Eucharist have been composed by Jane Upcott, a member of the Choir.
