Friends of St. Augustine’s - Report for July 2008

Dear friends,

The railings for the front of the church have now been installed, how many of you have missed them?  They will need a coat of paint; if you would like to help with painting, see John or Brian.  The new railings have been paid for from a generous donation.  Brian and John are preparing to lay paving slabs in front of the east end and are offering an opportunity for members to buy a flag or two; they have had contributions to pay for more than a hundred up ‘til now.  We need about 160.

With the new railings and the east end now complete there will be a call for gardening work parties to tidy the front of church and lay turf and plant plants and the paving stones.

Further events identified for this year’s social calendar and fund raising.  Please annotate your diaries.

1.       Fabulous Family Fun Day. Sat 28th June. See weekly sheet for details.

2.       Open garden Sat 5 July at Babs and Mick Florence

4.       Harvest supper – Sat 4 Oct.

The working parties are making good progress with tidying up the grounds; listen out for announcements and come along and join in the fun, you will get a cup of tea and a biscuit.

The returns from the summer fair amount to about £1100 after expenses will

have been taken; there will be some other money after sale of produce.

Many thanks to all who helped to set up and run the fair and to those who spent money.

Peace be with you now and for all of 2008.
