Oliver Pearce’s Letter following the London Marathon

Dear all,

Thank you very much for all your support - through sponsorship, encouragement and running advice. It's really heartening that together we've raised nigh on £3,000 for Christian Aid Christian Aid: Oliver's London Marathon 2024 Fundraising Page (enthuse.com) from around 75 wonderful friends and family.

Alongside 12 other Christian Aid runners' sponsorship, this will contribute to Christian Aid's work in countries across Africa, Asia & the Middle East, Latin America & the Caribbean. Over the months I've been training, I've worked with colleagues from programmes across these regions, pressing for more and better funding for those experiencing the impacts of climate change, calling for stronger due diligence rules across supply chains and figuring out how communities can respond to crises in such as Haiti and DRC - as well as ones which make the headlines more frequently. So thank you for helping us do this work!

Training was a bit easier knowing why I was running, and having encouragement and confidence from so many - even the cold mornings and damp, dark evenings were put to good use. And yesterday itself was enjoyable, riding a wave of cheering through London. I made it over the line a little under 3 hours 40 minutes after setting off, and think it's ok to retire from marathons now.

Thanks for joining the journey, it made it all worthwhile.

All best wishes,

Oli
